Committing to the Ocean
Because every drop creates a ripple
Did you know?
Over 2 billion people worldwide dispose of their waste in nature due to a lack of collection services. Orso is taking action by joining forces with CleanHub to bring proper waste collection to coastal regions where it’s needed most.
Together, we’re helping create cleaner environments while providing stable jobs in developing communities. Many of these opportunities go to women, empowering them to lead positive change both environmentally and economically.
The Fishing Net Crisis
Around 640,000 tonnes of the 8 million tonnes of plastic
entering our oceans each year — equivalent to the weight of over 50,000 double-decker buses — is ghost fishing equipment, which is either deliberately discarded or lost from ships and shorelines.
The Great Pacific Patch
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an area more than twice the size of Texas or three times the size of France. It is made entirely of ocean plastic waste, from which 75 to 86% comes from fishing nets according to The Ocean Cleanup.

A Silent Killer
Most fishing nets today are made of nylon or plastic that can last for centuries. When animals get trapped in abandoned nets, known as ghost gear, they often suffer slow, painful deaths from suffocation or exhaustion. Even as these nets break down, they turn into tiny plastic
particles that marine animals mistake for food, which can harm their organs.
Fighting Climate Change
At Orso, our mission is to reduce ocean waste by transforming discarded fishing nets into high-quality products. By recycling ocean waste, including ghost fishing nets, we conserve resources, reduce pollution, and lower greenhouse gas emissions, all of which help combat climate change and protect the environment. Additionally, this process saves marine animals from getting trapped in abandoned fishing nets.
Your Contribution to Healthier Oceans
Discarded fishing nets pose a serious threat to marine animals and the environment. That’s why we are committed to safeguarding the marine ecosystem and protecting marine life. By wearing our clothes and participating in our projects, you're taking action toward a cleaner, plastic-free ocean.
Thank you,
The Orso Team
